Die Wirtshaustöchter (The Inn Daughters) at the Drosendorf lido in the Waldviertel region of Austria
Good friends we are, the journalist, author and farmer in the Weinviertel region Heidi Strobl and me. Besides our love for good food, regenerative agriculture, fine wines and healthy nature, we are united by our origins: we are Wirtshaustöchter (inn daugherts)! In summer, we celebrate our cooking premiere at the Drosendorf lido in the Waldviertel region. On the Summer Cinema Days on Friday, 11, and Saturday, 12 August, as well as on Culinary Monday, 14 August, we will cook typical dishes from our parental inns in Vienna and Upper Austria.

It's in our genes. Heidi Strobl grew up in the inn Zur Schwarzen Katz in Vienna Hernals and I, Sylvia Petz, in the inn Strudengau in Grein on the Danube in Upper Austria are innkeepers' daughters. We spent our childhoods between the kitchen, the bar and the guest room. The inns have long since ceased to exist, but we have remained passionate hosts.
For the first time, we are now performing together on the inn floor. On 11, 12 and 14 August, we will cook for the guests of the Waldviertel Strandbad (lido) Drosendorf as "Die Wirthausstöchter" (The Inn Daughters) in the culinary series " A summer almost like back then". This is when tenant and new landlady Elisabeth Ruckser invites guests to the Culinary Mondays in July and August and leaves her kitchen to illustrious chefs like us on these days and on the summer cinema evenings.
What we will be serving? Classic Austrian inn dishes such as goulash and green been goulash, vegetarian stuffed peppers and roast pork as well as desserts such as curd dumplings with apricot stew and Strudengauer Mostpalatschinken (crepes). All organic, of course, and planned as a Green Event with the Austrian Ecolabel. It goes without saying that fine wines from fellow vintners will also be on the programme. We are already most delighted!
